How to recover delete file

Friday, June 12, 2009

Sometimes unconsciously or accidentally you delete an important file and after deleting you recognize that you've lost an important file forever! But before you hit the big red panic button, there's a very good chance that your file is still alive and kicking somewhere on your hard drive—you just need to know how to find it. I have found a good working file recovery tools named NTFS Undelete. It is free and open source software that allows you to recover deleted files. It recovers files directly from hard drive, and it will work even if you empty Recycle Bin.

So you've lost an important file. Don't panic. Take a breath, and let's see if we can find it. Before downloading NTFS Undelete, you have to consider the following :

Stop! What you're doing

When you delete a file, its content physically remains intact on the media, but the occupied space becomes marked as free. Next file saved to the disk may overwrite the contents of the deleted file.
It is very important to make sure that no application writes to the drive or partition where deleted file is located since every new file (even a small one) may overwrite the deleted file.

Recover Your Files

1. Run NTFS Undelete application and locate deleted file you'd like to restore.

2. Always recover files to another disk or partition. Do not recover files to the same partition they were located, otherwise files you are recovering may get corrupted and unrecoverable.

3. That's it, now you have your files back!
